Project: Visual traceability across dynamic ordered hierachies

Description

Traceability is considered to be important in many scientific and industrial fields for verification purposes, accountability and quality control. Currently existing methods for gaining insight in traceability information cannot provide a complete overview and lack the ability to quickly gain insight in the relations between various items across multiple artifacts. In this thesis we present a new method for visualizing traceability information within time-varying interrelated, hierarchically organized data. Examples of such data can be found in the field of software engineering, evolutionary biology and in many other scientific and industrial fields. In addition we present facilities to interactively gain insight in the connectivity of items by means of simple user interaction and simultaneous selection of connected items.
