The goal of the SeMMa project was to build a software system of a home networking system that explicit uses domain information to provide certain user functionalities. The project was started to investigate whether the idea and the technology aspects of the Semantic Web concept can be realized.
Based on a scenario describing the use of a device called the MediaPlayer, we applied domain modelling to define and visualise a domain of the home networking system. Subsequently, we investigated how a machine-readable representation of the domain information based on RDF/RDFS, contributes to the Semantic Web. Using this representation, the software system was realized using agent technology.
